How the Reading Plan Works

When you sign up and select "Cover to Cover" mode, your first text will contain Genesis 1:1. The next day, Genesis 1:2. And so on, verse by verse, through every book of the Bible. Each day picks up exactly where you left off.

This is not a "read the Bible in a year" program with massive daily readings. It is a single verse per day, delivered as a text. Manageable, consistent, and impossible to fall behind on.

Why One Verse at a Time?

Most Bible reading plans ask for multiple chapters per day. People start strong in January and quit by February. Get Daily Verse takes the opposite approach: one verse, every day, with zero friction. Over time, you read every word of Scripture, but the daily commitment is just reading a single text message.

Many subscribers tell us they spend more time reflecting on that one verse than they ever did rushing through a multi-chapter reading plan.

Supported Translations

Read through the Bible in the King James Version (KJV) or the American Standard Version (ASV). Both are faithful, public domain translations trusted by believers for over a century.

What This Plan Is Not

It is worth being direct about this. Cover to cover mode is not a one year Bible plan, and it is not designed to get you to the end of Revelation on a deadline. At one verse a day you are reading Scripture at a lifetime pace rather than a calendar pace.

That is deliberate. Most one year plans fail somewhere in Leviticus, not because the reader lost interest in the Bible but because falling four days behind turns a habit into a debt. Removing the deadline removes the thing that usually breaks the habit. There is no catch up screen here, because there is nothing to catch up on.

If you want to move through the text faster, the passage option sends two connected verses instead of one, which roughly doubles your pace while keeping the same daily rhythm.

Your Position Is Remembered

Every reader has their own place in the text, tracked independently. When your next verse goes out, it picks up exactly where the last one stopped, whether that was yesterday or three weeks ago. Missing a day does not skip you forward and it does not put you behind.

You can change your delivery time, switch translations, or adjust your format at any point without losing your place. Your position travels with you.

Pairing the Plan With a Random Verse

Cover to cover reading has an obvious weakness. Working through the genealogies or the ceremonial law in order is valuable, but on any given Tuesday it may not be the word you needed that morning.

That is what the combined mode is for. It sends two separate messages each day, one continuing your sequential reading and one drawn at random from anywhere in the Bible. You get the discipline of reading in order alongside the encouragement of a verse chosen without regard to where you happen to be standing.

Choosing Your Translation for the Plan

The reading plan works with either translation we carry. The KJV gives you the traditional cadence most readers grew up hearing. The ASV renders the original languages more consistently, which some readers prefer when working through long stretches of narrative or law in order. Both cover all 66 books, 31,102 verses in the KJV and 31,103 in the ASV.
