We collect only the information necessary to deliver daily Bible verses to you:
- Phone number provided during sign-up for SMS delivery
- Delivery preferences including your preferred time, timezone, verse format, and reading mode
- Reading progress if you choose the sequential (Cover to Cover) reading mode
- Verification codes temporarily stored to confirm your phone number
We do not collect your name, email address, location data, or any other personal information beyond what is listed above.
How We Use Your Information
Your information is used solely to operate The Daily Verse service:
- Sending daily Bible verse SMS messages at your chosen time
- Verifying your phone number during registration
- Tracking which verses have been sent to avoid repeats
- Maintaining your sequential reading position through the Bible
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate The Daily Verse:
- Twilio for SMS message delivery. Twilio processes your phone number to send text messages. See Twilio's Privacy Policy.
- Supabase for secure database hosting. Your data is stored on Supabase servers with encryption at rest. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any other third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. Your phone number is stored securely in our database with row-level security policies enabled. Verification codes expire automatically after 10 minutes. All data transmission between our services uses HTTPS encryption.
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you unsubscribe from The Daily Verse, we mark your account as inactive and retain your phone number only to honor your opt-out request. You may request complete deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Unsubscribe from SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message
- Update your delivery preferences through the app or website
- Request a copy of your stored data
- Request deletion of all your data from our systems
SMS Messaging Terms
By signing up for The Daily Verse, you consent to receive recurring automated SMS messages containing Bible verses at your selected delivery time. Message frequency is once per day. Message and data rates may apply depending on your carrier plan. You can opt out at any time by texting STOP. Text HELP for assistance.
Children's Privacy
The Daily Verse is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of The Daily Verse after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
