Anxiety is one of the most common reasons people turn to Scripture. When your mind is racing and your chest is tight, the right verse at the right moment can cut through the noise like nothing else.
Here are some of the most powerful Bible passages for anxious moments, drawn from the two translations we offer: KJV and ASV.
Philippians 4:6-7
KJV: "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
The word "careful" here means "anxious" in modern English. Paul is not saying "do not care about anything." He is saying stop letting worry consume you. Bring it to God instead. The promise is not that the situation changes. The promise is that peace comes anyway.
Matthew 6:34
KJV: "Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof."
Jesus is not saying "do not plan." He is saying stop borrowing trouble from tomorrow. Today has enough. Deal with what is in front of you. That is it.
Psalm 55:22
KJV: "Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved."
The image here is physical. You are carrying something heavy. Put it down. Hand it over. The promise is sustaining, not removing. God does not always take the burden away, but He holds you up while you carry it.
Isaiah 41:10
KJV: "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
Three promises stacked on top of each other. Strength. Help. Upholding. When anxiety says "you cannot handle this," God says "you do not have to."
1 Peter 5:7
ASV: "Casting all your anxiety upon him, because he careth for you."
The ASV uses the word "anxiety" directly where the KJV says "care." Peter wrote this to persecuted believers who had real reasons to be afraid. His counsel was not "be tougher." It was "give it to Someone who can actually carry it."
Psalm 94:19
KJV: "In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul."
This verse acknowledges what anxiety actually feels like: a multitude of thoughts, all competing for attention. The Psalmist does not pretend they go away. He says God's comfort shows up in the middle of them.

Many of our subscribers tell us that a verse they read days or weeks earlier comes back to mind during their hardest moments. The daily practice plants seeds. The harvest comes later, often when you need it most.
